Mahā Rudra Puraścaraṇa

For Loka Kalyāṇa and the support of Veda Gurukulas

15 May 2026 – 17 May 2026Hoysala Trust, 2nd Stage, Dattatreya Nagar, Hosakerehalli, Bengaluru – 560085

By the anugraha and blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam and His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam, the Mahārudra yāga of 16 and 17 May 2026 was completed at Hosakerehalli. Students from several Veda Gurukulas offered the Mahārudra japa, and the homa and other vaidika rites were led by the ācāryas. Devotees took part, and the Vṛnda regards the completion as entirely the fruit of the Jagadgurus’ grace. The three days had opened on the evening of 15 May.

In the weeks that followed, the Vṛnda visited more than ten Gurukulas, sat with the ācāryas, and began offering groceries, financial support, and what the students need. That sevā continues.

गण्यन्ते पांसवो भूमेः गण्यन्ते वृष्टिबिन्दवः। विधात्राऽपि न गण्यन्ते वेदाध्ययनतः फलम्॥

The particles of earth may be counted, the drops of rain may be counted — but even Brahma, the Creator, cannot measure the fruits of Vedādhyayana.

Spiritual Significance of the Rudrādhyāya

रुदं द्रावयति इति रुद्रः

Rudam drāvayati iti Rudraḥ

That which melts away suffering — that is Rudra.

Rudra is the compassionate Lord who melts away the devotee's sorrow and destroys all suffering.

All sins are destroyed for one who chants the Rudra. Through the grace of Shiva's name, one crosses the ocean of worldly existence. The root causes of worldly bondage are undoubtedly annihilated.

— Shiva Purana

As described in the Shiva Purana, the ultimate goal of human birth is liberation from the cycle of birth and death and attainment of Kaivalya (Supreme Liberation). In Kali Yuga, Bhagavan has bestowed two primary paths — Karma Mārga (Path of Action) and Jñāna Mārga (Path of Knowledge). Selfless actions performed with devotion lead one towards knowledge and liberation.

The Yajur Veda, particularly the Rudrādhyāya, prescribes sacred chanting and homa that remove accumulated karmas, bestow inner purification, and lead the seeker towards Amṛtatva — immortality.

Nivedana to the Jagadguru

After the Puraścaraṇa, the Vṛnda submitted this nivedana at the lotus feet of the Jagadgurus.

Śrī Gurubhyo Namaḥ. Śrī Śāradāmbāyai Namaḥ. Offering praṇāmas with devotion at the divine lotus feet of Paramapūjya Śrīmaj Jagadguru Śrī Śrī Bhāratī Tīrtha Mahāsannidhānam, and of Paramapūjya Śrīmaj Jagadguru Śrī Śrī Vidhuśekhara Bhāratī Mahāsannidhānam, born of those sacred lotus feet. We, the Śivasankalpa Vṛnda of Bengaluru, submit this humble nivedana. By your divine anugraha and blessings, the Mahārudra yāga held on 16 and 17 May was completed with great success. We report this with joy at your lotus feet. Students of various Veda Gurukulas offered the Mahārudra japa, and homa and other vaidika rites were conducted under the lead of the Gurukulas’ ācāryas. With the active participation of devotees, the whole programme was fulfilled in a meaningful way and with spiritual splendour. We regard this success entirely as the fruit of your gracious glance. During your vijaya yātrā in Tumakuru we had offered this resolve of dharma-sevā in your presence and sought your blessings. Out of your compassion you bestowed on our group the divine name “Śivasankalpa Vṛnda.” From that day, by the strength of your blessings, this sevā has met with a warm response from society, and many openings have continued to come for Gurukula sevā, the protection of the Veda, and dharmic work. After the Mahārudra yāga we were blessed to visit more than ten Gurukulas. We sat with the ācāryas and those who look after the pāṭhaśālas, came to know their needs and difficulties, and the resolve to take part in Gurukula sevā to the extent of our strength grew firmer. By your blessings and the cooperation of good people, Śivasankalpa Vṛnda today serves as a small bridge between society and the Gurukulas. We have taken up the work of reaching them with groceries, financial support, and help for the students’ education and daily needs. Many who love dharma, and many donors, have joined this puṇya-kārya. From the day you granted the name “Śivasankalpa Vṛnda,” this sevā has received extraordinary support. In truth, behind all of this there is no personal capacity of ours. All of it is the fruit of your divine saṅkalpa. That saṅkalpa is the strength that leads us; we are only the occasion through which it takes form. We pray that your kṛpā, guidance, and anugraha may always rest on us, so that this work — the uplift of the Gurukulas, the protection of the Veda, and the sevā of Sanātana Dharma — may grow yet wider. We offer countless praṇāmas at your divine lotus feet. In humility, Śivasankalpa Vṛnda Bengaluru Śrī Gurubhyo Namaḥ. Śrī Śāradāmbāyai Namaḥ.
